Happy Grandparents!

This image was one of the last ones we were able to take before the children decided that "enough was enough!" I think the looks on the faces of the adults are priceless! They were happy being with the children, no matter what was happening! This image is truely one for the family album!

Angel Baby!

This is an image from our family shoot we did over the Christmas holidays. Our little niece was a big hit as it was her first Christmas! And to prove what an angel she really is...here's the evidence!

Merry Christmas, Everyone!!

This is a close up of one of my very favorite Christmas images we did this year! The joy and excitement on this young girl's face at the prospect of speaking with Santa is representative of the complete innocence of childhood! I hope everyone who reads this blog is enjoying the quiet peace of the day and is able to reflect on our blessings! There's a song in the movie "White Christmas" that we could all learn from..."when I find myself not able to sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep!" Then, and only then, can we find a cure for the insomnia that has captured the world!

The Reason For the Season

This is a shot I took of a friend's gorgeous light show! I added the star to remind myself that although Christmas means lights, presents and parties, the real event we are celebrating is Jesus's birth many years ago. Keep that star in YOUR Christmas! And have a safe, happy and fun holiday!

Here Comes the Storm!

We recently photographed the high school girls basketball team for their annual program. Following the head coach's vision and after a good bit of designing by yours truely, here's the result! Talk about "eye-catching!" I can see these programs literally "flying out the door!"

We Stand United!

I wanted a patriotic feel to this team image and with the flags and the composition of the subjects, I think it worked. As simple as the pose is, it took a while to to position everyone just right so that I could see everyone's face Then, I sat down on the floor in front of the team and shot away! I love the results!

The Challenge

This image was shot just in time to get everyone ready for the bowl games! You can see the determination in this young player's eyes and the grittiness of the composition as a whole. One of my favorites!

Christmas At Home

I love the rich, warm colors of the wood in this image! It lends itself to the warm colors of the subjects faces, clothing and the overall feel of the composition. You can almost hear the crackling of the fire in the fireplace and can imagine snow falling in the yard! All in all....a wonderful family holiday image.

Caught In the Middle!

There's just something about this image that grags at your heart! This little one was the flower girl at our recent wedding and, in a break between pictures, I snapped this shot of her with her mom and dad, who were also in the wedding. I would love to know what the little girl is thinking at precisely this moment! But it's a great image of a young family.....one for the album, for certain!

Christmas Cutie

Christmas is just around the corner and the rush is on! This little doll and her baby brother came in for some Yuletide images this past weekend and I think we got some great results! Sorry it took me so long to post this but the holiday stress is taking it's toll!

Pillars of Strength!

This strong composition is one of my favorites from our weekend wedding images. The bride and groom are framed within the doorway, framed again by the pillars and, lastly, framed by the outer edges of the image. All frame lines lead to our wedding couple as they are backlighted and "pop" from the background!

Engaging Moment!

This is one of my favorite images from our weekend engagement session in Pittsburgh. We were on the grounds of the Mellon Center for the Arts and I spotted this tree that still had it's colorful leaves. My 70-200mm lens necessitated me taking this image from a long way away from the couple because I wanted the gorgeous background to fall softly out of focus behind them. I'm very pleased with the effect!

End of Fall

I love the bright colors in this image...even at the end of the fall! The young lady's relaxed pose and the gentle breeze blowing all come together for a great portrait of this senior!

West Virginia Family

Can you tell that this family is comprised of WVU fans? I really like how this portrait is built and the configuration of the family. It leads your eyes to each face in this happy image!

WVU Fan!

The wind blew at just the right time when I was taking this great image! This young lady was constantly "on the move" and we got her to sit still for a small window of opportunity! I love it!

Sisters

This is a darling portrait of two sisters. The personalities of the two girls shine through in their eyes and faces and the background goes nicely with their matching clothes! A true treasure for any parents!

Victorian Feel

The Victorian background contrasts nicely with this unusual and gorgeous gown! Off-camera lighting coming in from the left helps to accentuate the already bright window light and wrap around the subject.

Blowing In the Wind!

This is another great image from the same senior shoot. I love the red background and the movement in her hair! The off-center positioning serves to lead your eyes directly to her!

Lighting Drama

This senior is a dancer and wanted something dramatic to portray her love of music and dancing. I think the black leotard, black piano and black background all team up to spotlight and rose and the beautiful young lady!

Siblings

I couldn't resist posting this wonderful image taken at one of our family sessions. It has such a warmness to it..you can almost feel the soft breeze. What's great about this image is the closeness of the two siblings and how it's communicated to us in the pose. What a timeless treasure for their parents!

Biding His Time

This is a great image of our senior football player. Split lighting dramatizes the effect of the dim lighting in the locker room and serves to draw the viewers attention not only to the face, but to the uniform and the number. He was also backlit which causes some of the lighting to wrap around him and give him dimension, separating him from the background. This is certain to be a unique favorite!

Star of the Show!

A special lens and off-camera lighting were used to capture the essence of this "show-stopping" image! I love the colors and symmetry as this young lady was the center of attention with her blue dress contrasting strikingly with the red surrounds of the auditorium!

The Challenger

This is one of images from the sports section of our senior shoot a couple of weekends ago. This young lady is a volleyball standout and wanted her competitive nature to show in her images. I think she was successful!

Backlit Beauty!

This is another one of my favorite images from the wedding this past weekend. The church was decorated beautifully with the small lanterns you see in the picture and they just added to the backlit look we wanted to achieve. The perspective of the pews lead your eyes right to the couple as they share a quiet moment. This image is a "must" for any wedding album!

Looking to the Future!

This is one of the images from our wedding we photographed this weekend. I happened to step outside and notice this gorgeous sky. I immediately ran back into the reception hall and grabbed the bride and groom for a quick shot and this is the result! I love it and I'm certain the bride and groom will, also! I opted for split lighting on the subjects to increase the dramatics of the image and I think it went well with the beautiful October sky!

Drama In Black and White

This was one of the images from our senior shoot this past weekend. I love the contrast and the way the light falls on this young man's face. It's sure to be at the top of the list as one of his favorite choices!

Portrait In Pink

A lovely location and a beautiful subject combine to form this exquisite portrait of a young girl. I love how the sun backlit the subject and caused her to "pop" from the background. This, coupled with off-camera lighting coming in from the left served us well in the mid-afternoon sunlight!

Brothers

The richness of fall colors is at its peak in this portrait of two brothers. I love the overall warmth of this image and the many colors make it almost look like a painting behind the subjects!

River Scene

The Ohio River provides a beautiful background for this early afternoon family portrait! The sky had just the right amount of clouds and the tree at the left shaded the family enough to show the direction of light coming from my off-camera flash to the right. All in all, I was very pleased with this image!

Fall is Here!

Yes, fall is definitely upon us as is shown in this gorgeous family portrait! The sky cooperated that day and the sun was in the right place! All this coupled with the off-camera flash combined to paint this beautiful picture of this wonderful family and their beautiful farm !

And the Beat Goes On!

This senior is a percussionist that doesn't mind showing off a little...even if it's in the middle of the road! This image is definitely one of my favorites from one of our recent senior picture sessions!

Fall is Here!

Yes, fall is finally here and it's a great time of year for family portraits! Here's a beautiful one from one of our shoots this weekend. I love the gorgeous colors in this image, from the greens and vibrant reds to the muted fall colors in the soft background...all of it combines for a wonderful family treasure!

Homecoming 2009!

These beautiful people are members of the RHS Homecoming Court for 2009. I had the honor of photographing them on their big day just minutes before the Homecoming Parade down main street! We hope and pray the rain will hold off for the crowning at halftime of the game this evening!

There's No Place Like Home!

These special clients wanted a portrait that showed their beautiful family as well as their lovely home. The gentle vignetting and off-camera lighting served to spotlight the family as well as use the home as a wonderful backdrop for this timeless portrait!

Autumn Beauty

Another bridal portrait from our weekend session! The fall colors in the bride's bouquet seem to radiate throughout this lovely image..a true treasure for any bridal album!

Pillars of Beauty

The combination of a beautiful location and a gorgeous bride equals an exquisite bridal portrait! This is one of many from our weekend bridal session. The off-camera lighting coming in from the left side accentuates the detail in the bride's gown and makes her the center of attention in this lovely image!

DJ Extraordinaire!

This senior is also a DJ! He wanted an image that typifies his business as well as shows off his powerful speakers! I think this image speaks for itself!

Music To Our Ears!

This is one of my favorite images from our senior picture session this past weekend. This young man is a gifted vocalist and musician and we wanted to depict this in his senior portfolio. What a treasure this image will be in years to come!

Precious X 2!

As promised, here's another image from our weekend family session. This is definitely a favorite of mine! The expressions, the simple background...all contribute to a unique "double" portrait!

On Fire!

Here's an image of one of our seniors. He's a volunteer fire fighter and wanted this depicted in his portfolio of senior images. Pretty COOL, huh? I can almost feel the fire and smell the smoke!

Monday, September 7, 2009

Triple the Fun!!

I couldn't resist sharing this wonderful image with you...one from our family portrait session this weekend! Identical twins and a big brother add to the joy of this family's great expressions and wonderful outlook....and it shows in their faces! More to come from this shoot!!

Lighting the Aisle

Here's an image from this past weekend's wedding. We did the videography and some good photographer friends of ours from Classic Touch Imaging did the photography. I took some images to use on the DVD covers and this one was my favorite. I had never heard of aisle candleabras before but aren't they beautiful?

Pretty In Pink!

We put an interesting twist to this image of this high school senior in her prom gown! I love the "wind blown" look and her gorgeous gown lent itself to a little help from the special effects department! What do you think?

Family Time!

I love the feel of this family portrait! It's relaxed and casual and in a beautiful location. The off-camera lighting adds to the depth of the image and preserves the richness of the end of summer colors! This is one of my favorites from this weekend's family portrait session. Let me know what you think!

Senior Cheers!

Here's a favorite collage of mine from one of our recent senior picture shoots. I wanted to convey action as well as school spirit in this young
lady. We offer all types of collages and posters....check them out on our "sports" category on our homepage!!

Country Magnificence!

Once again, we were fortunate to be on hand to witness some of God's handiwork in this gorgeous country landscape! Add to it this beautiful couple and you come up with an absolutely wondrous engagement portrait that is as unique as it is timeless!

Wedding Blues!

Same location, different camera settings! I changed the Kelvin temperature setting on my camera. That, coupled with my off-camera flash, gave me what I needed for this "blue" bridal portrait! Kind of different.....

Groomsmen In Green

Don't you love this shade of green? It was striking against both the white shirts and the black jackets! I call this the "Marine Pose" because of the roadsign advertising the Marines. It seemed to serve this groom and his attendants well and this pose can be used for any number of groomsmen in the wedding party!

Backlit Beauty!

As promised, this is another image from this weekend's wedding. I love the backlighting and how it makes the couple "pop out" of the scene! Stay tuned for more!
